4.5 StarsOh no Oh yes I loved this novel This story is told in three points of view, Hayden s Derrick s and Justin s To some, that might be a little confusing, but it s not When there is a skip of one point of view to the other, the story flows smoothly It does not go back and retell what you just read At first, I found it hard to know in whose point of view I was, but when I catch on, I loved the story from beginning to end My favorite character was Hayden I loved the little kid He was straight and friends with the gay guys in school His best friend Ryan has a little crush on him A little He falls for the guy Who wouldn t He was awesome At first, Hayden freaks Name a straight guy that wouldn t, right After he calms down, he seeks Ryan and tries to fix their friendship which he does Those two stay as friend and I liked that Derrick and Justin were awesome I liked their love story, but Hayden stole the show I hated Kristian He was mean and unlikable I hope he gets what he deserves in book three The plot was good, but the story was a little too long for me I liked the fact that I felt like a fly on the wall throughout the novel I truly felt like if I was eavesdropping on their conversation and a part of the gang by the end of the book.In a nutshell, the story and characters were great and likable I recommend this novel to anyone who wants to read about a group of friends as they make their way through life.

This is the second book in the Finding Our Way Series and is the sequel to Jayson James s book Finding Our Way.I wanted so badly to like this book, but I was tormented when reading it Maybe that is why this book is called Tormented Discovery I don t really know why the book is called that, except that I felt tormented by some of the discoveries in the book, I.e the storyline between Hayden and Ryan, see below I do like the main characters, so that is a plus I love how this group of friends were there for each other in good times and in bad and that Derrick and Justin being gay was not an issue But I feel that likeable main characters is all this story has going for it That and the repeatidly cute Oh No, Oh Yes dialogue exchanges made by Derrick and Justin. The writing is awkward and the editing errors are atrocious There are so many typos and incorrect spelling and grammar That irks me The dialogue is also strange The plot seriously stalls in this story It doesn t go anywhere Much of this story revolves around nasty index cards saying fag being left on Justin s car, but we the readers know who is leaving the cards, so it is no mystery to us It s just annoying that the plot revolves around this and other than that, the plot just stalls I found myself frustrated reading this and did not enjoy the journey of reading this, but just hoping that something would happen, but nothing really did Also Justin and Derrick s parents reactions to their being a couple is very contradictory The parents apparently do not like Justin and Derrick being gay and give them a hard time about it, but they let Justin and Derrick sleep over each other s houses all the time and other times the parents seem really supportive So this was all very inconsistent This was a minor frustration, but overall I was very frustrated with the plot and the actions of some of the characters For instance I was really excited with Hayden s narrations added to this story, as Finding Our Way was only from Derrick s and Justin s perspectives, this book also offers Hayden s perspective view spoiler However, Hayden s narrations are way too short and the whole storyline between him and Ryan is a giant tease as they do not end up together, for although they kiss each other, make out and masturbate together, Hayden is not gay and only likes Ryan as a friend Ok I was excited about these two boys finally coming together as it was suggested in the first book of this series and in this book that they would But they do not and I was let down hide spoiler

3 Sweet Stars Arc kindly provided for my honest opinion This book is the continuation of the relationship between Derrick and Justin how their friends and the outside world react to them At times they question their relationship Will it last the distance Will others get in the way The couple begin to see how people react towards homosexuality, both the good and bad.Their love for each other comes through in the storytelling I don t want you to feel pressured Your happiness is all that matters to me Let s just cuddle for a bit I love, love, love it when characters cuddle in bed .but is their love for each other enough Will they survive the obstacles put in their path The story is told from the POV of Derrick and Justin I always enjoy reading a dual perspective from the love interests We also hear the POV of another character called Hayden and, although I really liked him, he is a very interesting character, and had his own special friendship I feel his was a separate story and could have perhaps been told in another book I liked all the guy talk and banter, and loved the intimacy between the main characters and seeing them gain in sexual confidence with each other So, why only 3 stars I found it to be a little too detailed in places about inconsequential things and I would have preferred the story to concentrate on the main characters Also, I would have liked to see of a contrast between the characters highs and lows a little light and shade and angst I think young people of a similar age to the characters in the story would absolutely love this book

The thing I hate most about books that I really enjoy is when they end Luckily, I didn t have to wait too long for the sequel to Jayson s first book, Finding Our Way I purchased Tormented Discovery the night it came out and finished it within twenty four hours It felt like coming home to old friends I was so glad to see the relationship between Derrick and Justin pick off from where the first book ended Usually, it takes me several chapters before I feel comfortable with a book However, Jayson s style had be completely at ease from the first page I don t want to give anything away, but, I am worried about how their relationship will endure the next chapter in their lives Hopefully, we will get the chance to find out

This was an enjoyable story Each person was a vital part to the ultimate conclusion even if one of the couples didn t end up like I thought they should, darn it.It was good to see how things looked to each person, how they all needed and cared for one another They were obviously than just friends, they were family. The story played out like you were reading their diaries Each had things going on in their lives that was important to them Some got shared with the group, others didn t, but overall it was still a fun read.

Justin and Derrick are starting their senior year of high school They ve come out as a couple to their close friends and family and managed to withstand the pitfalls and struggles of their first year together But not all is at is seems Someone is leaving disturbing notes on Justin s car and in his locker The threat intensifies when his tires are slashed and an emotional day at school has him questioning who he can trust, if he s placed his trust in the wrong person James s raw reality in writing that is the voice of Justin and Derrick kept me turning each page, anxious to see what would happen in the next chapter Who is behind the hate mail , could it be someone the boys know and trust And why has Justin s dad let his mom come back home I love the immaturity of these characters and their relationship They are navigating unknown, choppy waters together Oh No , they don t know what the future holds Not only is the relationship threatened by that very immaturity I ve come to love, but learning to trust in each other as well But Oh Yes , they will do whatever it takes to stay together.Wildly entertaining secondary characters like the twins and Stacey add some stability to the story and we delve further into the friendship fo Ryan and Hayden In the end will the boys be able to get past the torment of a stranger as well as someone they should be able to trust, to discover the real possiblity of a future together

A coming of age story between two seniors who struggle with not only their own relationship but how their families and friends accept their status of boyfriends Being my first ya gay book I was interested in how it all played out Think students can learn a lot of various relationship structures James sets up however, the writing was a bit juvenile for my taste The plot stalled in areas for extended periods of time time and the typos were a bit distracting The oh yes , oh no repeated dialogue was a bonus to me because it kept a nice common quirk ruining throughout between Derrick and Justin I liked the extra viewpoint of Hayden as well and how sometimes the plot overlapped on the same scene but from a different pov No matter what kind of relationship, they all need constant and continual work and james did a great job at showing that but in also think it could have been a really great book if the plot was sharpened a bit .

I am enraptured with Jayson James His writing style is real and it flows I wasn t sure I would like reading a story from three different perspectives but he manages to make it move beautifully The boys have come out and they are trying to make a successful relationship This is difficult in the best of circumstances and I am impressed at the realism of the things they go through Being a teenager in love is not easy but you can see how hard it would be to be a gay teenager in love.I am simply stunned with how real Jayson James makes these characters These young and passionate men could be your sons, your nephews or the teenager down the street All they want is to love and be loved When threats start being made, which we see in real life all the time, the boys struggle to hold onto what they have Take a chance on this author and enjoy an amazing story
